I finished up my ImagePlay for February this weekend and finally did a little more with it. Amanda and I choose images for each other this time around and she choose this great hypnotic staircase image for me (if you click on the photo it will take you to the photographer, gnato on deviantart).
Right off the bat I thought I’d do a fun little mini quilt with this repeat as the idea, but we had a lot going on in February so I couldn’t quite make that happen. I was playing around with ideas, thinking maybe I’d do a foundation paper piece, but instead, when I was done drawing, I saw owl eyes. So I colored them in and made a body. I always seem to have owl on the brain.
After I made him up on the computer I wanted to do something with him, so I grabbed a sheet of iron-on transfer paper and printed him out on my inkjet. Then I ironed him onto a piece of Kokka canvas and sewed some print and solid strips from my stash around him. I haven’t quite decided what I will do with him, I had thought about a mini quilt for my wall but I’d really like to make this into a little tote bag, so eventually that will happen.

Love the inspiration and how you transferred it into fabric!
